Detailed itinerary:-

Day 1

Early morning
Arrive at Manchester Airport and transfer to city centre hotel either by taxi, coach or train.  Alternatively stay in one of the many hotels located at Manchester Airport. 

Morning
Check-in and freshen up, before enjoying some free time to relax, explore and shop.

Manchester Art Gallery One of the best galleries in the UK, collections include works from Constable, Turner, Pissarro, Gauguin and Stanley Spencer.

Manchester Arndale & Market Street Offering all the best known brands such as Topshop, Zara, H&M, Next and more.  Open seven days a week and until 8pm on weekdays.  Look out for sales seasons in summer and winter when you’ll find bargains galore.   

Lunch    
Enjoy lunch at Sam’s Chop House.

Sam’s Chop House is the best for classic and contemporary British cuisine in the city. Dishes such as Corned Beef Hash, Rib of beef and homemade steak and kidney puddings will tickle the taste buds whilst the interior is warm and welcoming. Make sure you sample some of their own ale. 

Other options:

  • Mr. Thomas’ Chophouse – tradition British dishes with a pint!  Fish & Chips, Sunday Roast and more. 
  • Market Restaurant – Traditional British, quality seasonal food in a homely, cosy setting. 

Afternoon
Blue & Green Badge guided walking tour
One of the best ways to discover Manchester is on foot.  Book a guided walking tour of the city centre. 

Quirky and informative tour of the regenerated and vibrant city centre. The tour will encompass the contrast of the splendid Victorian architecture with the emergence of modern buildings, such as Urbis – a fascinating attraction exploring life in the modern city. 

Late afternoon
MOSI (Museum of Science & Industry)

Located on the site of the oldest-surviving passenger railway station.  Discover the history, science and industry in Manchester in many colourful galleries packed full of fascinating facts and amazing artefacts. Live demonstrations, costumed historical characters and guided tours ensure you make the most of your visit.  Free entry. 

Evening
Head back to the hotel to freshen up and relax before heading out to dinner in one of the city’s many fantastic restaurants.

Sapporo Teppanyaki A truly memorable dining experience with all the theatre of Teppanyaki style cooking.  Be entertained by the talented show chefs and enjoy authentic Teppanyaki cuisine and sushi at its very best.

Late evening
Northern Quarter

Manchester’s bohemian district is home to independent restaurants and bars, perfect for a relaxed night out.  Try Odd Bar (continental beers and relaxed atmosphere), Socio Rehab (cocktails and sophisticated), Bay Horse (laid-back beers and a pool table) Trof (relaxed and quirky), Matt & Phred’s (Live jazz music – open until the early hours).   Dance the night away at Mint Lounge, Moho or at many of the bars which open until the early hours.

Day 2

Morning 
Breakfast in the hotel before heading across to spend the day at The Quays

The Quays is a unique waterfront destination situated just 15 minutes by tram from Manchester city centre and an ideal destination for a day out.

Imperial War Museum North Imperial War Museum North is a spectacular aluminium-clad building, based around the idea of the world shattered into pieces by war. Inside the museum’s dramatic exhibition galleries you can explore how war shapes lives with the aid of an audio-visual presentation.

Late Afternoon
Head back to the hotel to freshen up before heading out for an early dinner    Choose from many city centre restaurants including:

There are thirty different cuisines available within the city centre and just outside. Choose from Chinese, Thai and Korean in Chinatown or head out to Rusholme (The Curry Mile) for mouth-watering Indian dishes. Whatever your taste-buds desire, be it Italian, Greek, Mexican, Spanish, Thai or Japanese, you can be sure to find it in Manchester. 

Evening   Take your seats for one of the hottest shows in town Manchester enjoys a packed programme of performances all year round. Famous faces, West-End favourites, world class performers, musicians and conductors, all on stage at one of Manchester’s many theatres. 

Late evening 
Depending on your stamina choose whether to hit the city’s legendary nightlife or just head back to the hotel for a well deserved rest.  

Areas to explore include: 

The Printworks  A number of bars, restaurants and clubs all under one roof look out for Pure and Opus.  Popular nightspot.

Deansgate Locks  Here you will find bars, nightclubs and a comedy club.  Look out for Baa Baa, Revolution, Sugar Lounge and more.  Popular night spot.

Castlefield  The city’s canal-side leisure area, particularly good at spring and summer.  Look out for Dukes 92, The Ox (traditional British gastro pub), Cloud 23 at Hilton Hotel, Deansgate (sophisticated bar on the 23rd floor of the Hilton Hotel at Beetham Tower).   

Day 3

Morning 
Breakfast in the hotel; spend the day exploring the city then wider Greater Manchester region. 

Northern Quarter
The city’s creative hub offers a variety of independent galleries, shops, restaurants and bars. 

Manchester Craft & Design Centre – for hand-made products such as jewellery, art, sculpture, photography from the artists themselves.

Chinese Art Centre - hosts a challenging and innovative exhibition programme showcasing the very best of contemporary Chinese art.

Richard Goodhall Gallery – contemporary exhibitions, limited edition rock posters and other quirky gift ideas.

Lunch
Soup Kitchen
Fresh, healthy, affordable food including home-made soups, salads, cakes and tarts.  Vegan and vegetarian options also available.

Afternoon
Explore Greater Manchester

Smithills Hall, Bolton One of Bolton's original family homes, Smithills Hall is a Grade 1 listed building, full of history and drama.  Containing fine examples of architecture through the ages, from Medieval and Tudor right through to Victorian times, the hall is set in formal gardens next to the West Pennine Moors.

Trafford Quays Leisure Village Offering a unique and varied experience which includes shopping and sports.

The Trafford Centre  Find the latest and most stylish in designer fashion.  With 230 stores under one beautiful roof and 60 restaurants, cafes and bars.

Playgolf
Practise golfing techniques in the great outdoors at Playgolf. The sweeping golf driving range features 64 bays, miniature golf for those playing for fun and a café bar. Discounts available.  
Located at The Quays Leisure Village, across the road from The Trafford Centre, Chill Factore and the JJB Powerleague Soccerdome. 

Chill Factore Ski, snowboard or climb at Chill Factore, Trafford Quays Leisure Village. The real snow ski slopes cater for groups, beginners and experts, taster sessions and courses. Further activities include tubing, luging and leisurely fun in the snow.  Taster sessions last approximately one hour.

Dine at Nandos or Chiquitos, enjoy a drink at one of the bars or watch the skiers from the balcony as part of the Chill Factor.

Alternatively wander into any one of the plethora of museums and art galleries dotted around Manchester, the majority of which, are free of charge. Make sure you don’t miss Manchester Art Gallery or John Rylands Library.
