Detailed itinerary:-
Day 01 - Geneva
On arrival in Switzerland through any of the intercontinental airports of Zurich or Geneva, transfer directly by train to Geneva.
Geneva is Switzerland's second-largest city, but surely the most international: a third of the population is from elsewhere. The city is crowded with museums, has many excellent cultural events, even more good restaurants, and is ideally placed for quick hops to the Swiss and French Alps.
Day 02 - Geneva
Day free..
The iconic Jet d'Eau, the world's tallest fountain, shoots water into the air with incredible force (200kmh/124mph and 1360 horsepower) to create a 140m (469ft) plume. At any one time seven tonnes of water is in the air and much of it can fall on spectators on the pier. The Jet is shut off during gusty weather.
Overnight stay in Geneva.
Day 03 - Zermatt
This morning leave Geneva for the car free resort of Zermatt on the foothills of the majestic Matterhorn by train.
"Matterhorn" is one of the world's most famous mountain. It raises 4478 meters high, but is not the highest mountain in Switzerland (see mountains for more details). The first men who managed to climb to the top of this mountain was a group of seven mountaineers around Sir Whymper from Great Britain on July 14, 1865. Four of the seven men died on the way back
Overnight stay in Zermatt.
Day 04 - Interlaken
Zermatt to Interlaken by train.. Overnight stay in Interlaken.
Day 05 – Interlaken - Jungfraujoch
Depart on an excursion from Interlaken up to Jungfraujoch- Top of Europe. Overnight stay in Interlaken.
Day 06 - Lucerne
Rail trip by the Golden pass line from Interlaken to the City of lights- Lucerne (panoramic coach seats in 1st class only). Day at leisure. Overnight stay in Lucerne.
Day 07 – Lucerne – Mt. Pilatus
Cruise from Lucerne to Alpnachstad, then up to Pilatus by the steepest cogwheel railway in the world (from May to November ). During winter you take the bus from Lucerne to Kriens and further a panoramic gondola from Kriens to Pilatus. Overnight stay in Lucerne.
Day 08 – End of tour
Return to the airport or continue your stay in Switzerland on your own.
