How about cycling through the jewel of Tuscany, San Gimignano? As you ride along sunflower fields, cypress-lined country roads, olive groves, and vineyards that produce some of the world’s finest olive oil and wine, you will savour the flavour of these ingredients in the outstanding local cuisine. This cycling experience gives you a glimpse of the authentic country towns and villages of Siena, Volterra, Certaldo, Casole d'Elsa, Colle Val d'Elsa and Monteriggioni!

Day 1 : Arrival in San Gimignano

Arrive at the farmhouse near San Gimignano and unwind - this will be your comfortable Tuscan home for the next week. Enjoy a stroll along the classic green rolling hills taking in breath-taking views of the surrounding countryside.

Day 2 : Excursion to the vineyards of Ulignano, Certaldo Alto & Barberino; Cycle

Today you cycle through vineyards towards Ulignano and the charming hilltop village of Certaldo, the hometown of the renowned Italian writer Boccaccio. The ascent to Certaldo is either by funicular or by a very steep climb. After visiting its main square and stunning churches, you may choose an extended ride to Barberino and Tavernelle in the Chianti Classico.

Day 3 : Excursion to Certaldo Alto & Barberino, Monteriggioni, Lilliano & Castellina; Cycle

In the morning, transfer to Colle Val d’Elsa. Cycle along the undulating hills of the Val d’Elsa to the perfectly preserved medieval hamlet of Monteriggioni. Continue uphill, past abundant vineyards and stimulating woods, either towards Lilliano or directly up to Castellina in Chianti, where the views are spellbinding. In the afternoon, transfer from Colle Val d’Elsa back to your accommodation.

Day 4 : Day trip to Volterra; Cycle

Transfer to the magical and mysterious Ancient Etruscan city of Volterra, where you will explore its Alabaster artisan shops, Roman Theater, and palaces. Then hop on your bike for a downhill ride through valleys, wheat fields, and impressive villas to San Gimignano.

Day 5 : Departure from San Gimignano

Your cycling trip ends today but your vacation doesn't have to. Extend your stay or further customize the rest of your trip.
