Provence Lavender Biking Experience

Explore Provence exactly when the violet flowers of lavender bushes flower out in full magnificence. The captivating small and the unique colours of the big lavender fields are really a special experience. During this journey you cycle through one of the biggest lavender areas of the Provence, enjoy the play of the flowers with the wind and the picturesque scenery around mountain Mont Ventoux. Besides that numerous beautiful small villages and some places of interest are waiting to be discovered. This is a journey for France fanciers and lovers of unique nature and culture. You will be fascinated.

Day 1 : Arrive in L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue

L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue a small town is located on an island and popular for its numerous antique shops and old romantic water wheels. Arrive L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and reach the hotel on own. No activity has been planned for the day, you are free to explore this beautiful town on own.


Day 2 : L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue - Vaison-la-Romaine (Approx. 55 - 60 km)

Through broad agrarian fields to Carpentras, the former capital city of Comtat Venaissin. The Italian charm of the city is inviting you for a stroll. You continue to Beaumes-de-Venise, where the best dessert wine is produced and cycle along the mountain range “Dentelles des Montmirail” to the old roman city Vaison-la-Romaine.


Day 3 : Vaison-la-Romaine - Sault (Approx. 60 km)

In the morning, proceed for the bike tour to the picturesque villages Brantes and Montbrun-les-Bains which are located on plateau d`Albion. Continue through beautiful lavender fields to the small city Sault. Enjoy the wonderful view onto the violet lavender scenery below mountain Mont Ventoux.


Day 4 : Loop tour around Sault (Lavender Fields) (Approx. 50 km)

Today an extended loop tour through the lavender plantations of the plateau is awaiting you. The route leads along the high plateau and through oak- and chestnut forests back to Sault.


Day 5 : Sault - Apt / Surroundings (Approx. 60 km)

Today is market day in Sault. Take the possibility for a stroll after breakfast to Nature Park Luberon, this is often named Tuscany of France. The mountain village Oppedette and the Calavon canyon are located on your way to Apt, which is the centre of Luberon and home of tasting candied fruits.


Day 6 : Loop tour through Luberon (Approx. 45 - 50 km)

With Bonnieux, Boux and Saignon three of the most beautiful villages of Luberon are located along your route before you continue downhill to Apt (ca 55 km). For all who wants to relax we offer the possibility of making a detour to Gargas, where the last operated ochre digging in France is located.


Day 7 : Apt / Surroundings - L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (Approx. 50 km)

Via Roussillon, which was long the centre for ochre digging in the Luberon region, you continue via the picturesque located Gordes to the famous spring Fontaine-de-Vaucluse.


Day 8 : Departure

After breakfast, proceed for individual departures.
