Independent Cycling From Munich to Salzburg

Munich and Salzburg are known for their natural blue lakes, high mountains and beautiful countryside As you cycle across these cities, apart from enjoying the panoramic views of the enigmatic landscapes, you will also experience a variety in cultures, traditions and cuisines along your way. History and art lovers will be happy to see the natural history museum at Siegsdorf and the famous Lüftlmalerei paintings on their way!

Day 1 : Arrive into Munich

On the first day, you will get your personal trip information kit and bike fitting. Munich welcomes you to stay in one of its many beer gardens. Get into the mood for the bike trip by drinking a "Radlermaß” (a glass of beer and lemonade).


Day 2 : Munich - Bad Tölz (About 60 Kms.)

Today you ride along the Isar cycle path via Wolfratshausen and Geretsried to reach town of Bad Tölz, located at the crossroads of two trade routes - the River Isar and the old salt route from Reichenhall to Allgäu. See the ornate mansions and the Tölzer market Street. Overnight stop at Bad Tolz.


Day 3 : Bad Tölz - Lake Schliersee (About 35 Kms.)

Cycle through the scenic landscape of Lake Tegernsee to Lake Tegernsee. At Gmund, enjoy panoramic view of the lake. We recommend taking a boat trip or going for a swim! Continue cycling on the Bodensee-Königssee bike path to reach Lake Schliersee where you take an overnight stop.


Day 4 : Lake Schliersee – Bad Feilnbach region (About 35 Kms.)

Today, you ride along the beautiful lakes and hills to reach the colorfully decorated Bavarian spa town of Bad Feilnbach. Overnight stop in Feilnbach.


Day 5 : Bad Feilnbach region - Lake Chiemsee (About 45 Kms.)

Today you ride your bike along the mining area of Bavaria to reach Neubeuern. Cycle via Frasdorf at the foot of the Chiemgau Mountains to reach Lake Chiemsee. We recommend taking a boat trip to the islands Herrenchiemsee and Frauenchiemsee.


Day 6 : Lake Chiemsee - Inzell (About 35 Kms.)

Cycle through the "Bergener Moos” on the foot of Mount Hochfelln (1,674 meters), via Bad Adelholzen (healing spring), to Siegsdorf (natural history museum). As you ride along the river Rote Traun to the town of Inzell, do stop to see the famous Lüftlmalerei paintings on the beautifully decorated town houses. Overnight stay in Inzell.


Day 7 : Inzell - Salzburg (About 55 Kms.)

How about cycling on narrow paths between the mountains? Take the adventurous route along the German Alpine Road via Schneitzlreuth and the River Saalach to Bad Reichenhall. Cycle across the border between Bavaria and Austria to reach Salzburg.


Day 8 : Departure or Extension of trip

Though your cycling trip ends today, we can book additional nights in Salzburg on request.
